Steps to Designing Your Own Home
Dollars come first.  Now’s the time to pick a number and share it with me.  Don’t worry, I can help you with this because I understand construction costs and together we can avoid potentially embarrassing reality checks later on in the project. This should be a home you can love, be proud of and afford.

A boundary survey with topography and flood elevation is required before we can start in most cases. Every property is different, all come with characteristics that must be considered and enhanced.

These ideas help lead me to the home you have in your mind.  A picture is worth a thousand words.

Priority List
Only you know what your needs and desires are.  Spend some quality time on this task. Is your priority features or amenities?  What will move in with you?

My staged method of home design planning gives the owner many chances to gain an insight into the many facets of their plans.  Adjustments can be made and problems can be avoided easily while they are still on paper.  Plans evolve; your understanding will evolve as well.

Builders, Contractors, Regulatory Agencies
My goal is to pull out the vision that you have for your new home and put it on paper in such a way that you, your builder, the subcontractors, and the regulatory agencies can understand and approve it. A building project entails making hundreds of decisions, remembering the nitty-gritty particulars that can be so easily ignored when one is distracted by seemingly larger questions.

Review, Review, Review
The goal here is to design your home with minimal surprises and maximum enjoyment through solid planning.  This should be a home you can love, be proud of and afford.  If you see anything on these plans that need clarification or revision, please bring it to my attention.
